Rhode Island Integrated Tax System is Live with Revenue Premier®

July 11, 2014.  Pembroke, MA – Revenue Solutions, Inc. (RSI), a company that specializes in providing revenue and compliance management products and services specifically to Federal, State and Municipal government revenue, labor and child support agencies, is pleased to announce that the Rhode Island Division of Taxation successfully implemented its Integrated Tax System (ITS) with RSI’s Revenue Premier®.

The Division of Taxation wanted a proven commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) ITS to establish a system to support all aspects of its tax administration – including front-end imaging and data capture capabilities – and the consulting services to assist with the installation and implementation of the system.

Designed specifically for the Tax and Revenue industry, RSI’s Revenue Premier provided Rhode Island a COTS ITS software package that supports taxpayer registration, return/payment processing, taxpayer accounting, revenue accounting, collections, audit, tax data warehousing, decision analytics, business intelligence, case/workflow management, correspondence management and system administration.

Release 1 was implemented on-time and on-budget, and includes the successful conversion of 47 Corporate and Excise tax types; channel management and deposit from several sources; tax processing of 36 different forms; taxpayer accounting; outbound correspondence; case management; reporting functionality; and revenue accounting. Additionally, Release 1 includes the configuration and setup of new imaging and data capture hardware and software. Since going live, the system has processed thousands of documents, and deposited and reconciled more than $250M.

“We’re delighted to announce that we are now live with our new integrated tax system,” said Rhode Island Tax Administrator David M. Sullivan. “RSI several years ago provided us with our data warehouse, and it has generated millions of dollars in revenue for the State of Rhode Island, quickly covering its original cost,” Mr. Sullivan said. “On July 11th, 2014 we took the next step of rolling out the integrated tax processing functionality within RSI’s Revenue Premier® product, bringing online 36 tax types. I am proud to say that the joint RSI and Rhode Island project team flawlessly delivered the first release within the planned 14 months schedule and the system is working great.” Mr. Sullivan expects that the Revenue Premier software – chosen in a competitive bidding process – will enable the Rhode Island Division of Taxation to operate more effectively and efficiently, generate additional revenue for the State of Rhode Island, and create exciting new web portal self-service capabilities for practitioners, taxpayers, and other stakeholders.
